Home News British Gypsum operations reache 90% of capacity

Plasterboard and Plaster shortages are falling as production as British Gypsum, Britain’s largest plasterboard manufacturer, reports that its plants are consistently operating at 90% of capability. British Gypsum’s plaster manufacturing plants are also at maximum capability as it responds to meet the continued strong demand.

British Gypsum plasterboard supply is now broadly in line with demand and allocation on plasterboard was removed last week.

During June 130 more truckloads of plaster to the market than it delivered during the same month in 2019. Weekly supply is now higher than when British Gypsum closed at the end of March in the wake of Government advice.

In a statement, Matt Pullen, managing director at British Gypsum, said: “All of our British Gypsum colleagues are committed to meeting this ongoing demand and helping our merchant, distributor and DIY stockists to replenish their stocks so they can supply commercial building projects, housebuilding and importantly the army of independent tradespeople who are repairing, maintaining, and improving homes and buildings across the UK.”
