Home News Construction escapes new Covid-19 restrictions

Last night the Prime Minister said the country had reached a ‘turning point’ in the fight against coronavirus as a raft of new measures to tackle a rise in cases  were revealed. Earlier in the day a Commons statement indicated that construction can remain open.

The Prime Minister told the House of Commons that construction sites should remain open In his Commons statement he said: “In key public services and in all professions where homeworking is not possible, such as construction or retail, people should continue to attend their workplaces.”

The Treasury is reported to be considering further VAT and business rates deferrals in addition to a more restricted version of the furlough scheme.
