Home News FIS reveals 2015 award winners

Industry leaders from across the finishes and interiors sector celebrated craftsmanship and design quality at the FIS annual President’s Lunch at London’s prestigious Dorchester Hotel today and saw SAS International scoop the prestigious Project of the Year Award.

More than 450 delegates witnessed the announcement of the 2015 winners of the  FIS Contractors Awards. This year’s awards covered seven categories: project of the year; interior fit-out – for offices, retail and leisure,  and other; ceilings; partitioning; drywall construction; operable walls; specialist joinery and judges’ awards.

The Greenwich Peninsula Pavilion Project of the Year winner posed a number of highly complex challenges to SAS International – the most significant being whether or not a solution that met the architect’s aspirations could even be manufactured.

Both internal and external, the installation method had to accommodate 150mm deflection due to high wind loads. In addition, the structure followed an irregular geometry that could not be set out in a regular, predictable manner. The complex curves of each profile were unique, requiring a highly adaptive and accurate fixing solution. The only recourse was to design and manufacture a bespoke fixing to meet the wide ranging demands.

David Frise, FIS chief executive, said: “The awards recognise a true commitment to quality and clearly demonstrate the strength and breadth of skills that exist within the finishes and interiors sector.

“Those entering the awards are part of our community where our members can discuss and debate issues that are relevant to their business.  FIS members are informed and are able to deliver contemporary designs that meet and exceed standards that ensure an FIS award is a true mark of quality.”
