Scottish Government defines essential works for construction
The Scottish Government’s response to the coronavirus crisis has extended to defining essential non-essential construction work and it’s said that non-essential work should stop.
The new guidance says that projects delivering facilities dedicated to battling coronavirus, repair and maintenance of critical infrastructure and essential public services should remain open.
Essential services include health, energy, communications, food, water and waste
The Scottish Government’s guidance note stated that the construction sector and its supply chain is considered a non-essential business sector, except when supporting these essential types of work.
Housebuilding, schools, offices, leisure and retail projects are considered non essential and should be shut down safely and securely.
